California may be most known for heavily-oaked Chardonnay and high-alcohol Cabernet Sauvignon. But those wines are slowly going out of style. A new generation of Californian winemakers are shepherding a movement producing more balanced, true-to-place and lesser-known varietals. One of those producers is Megan Bell of Margins wines. She brings a globally-trained pedigree to the west coast with experience from New Zealand, France’s Loire Valley and Oregon. The Margins mission has been to work with small growers to transition their vineyards from conventional to organic farming and produce low-intervention wines using grapes from underrepresented regions, vineyards, and varietals.. Explore the “margins” of California’s wine country at this special iteration of Coast Flight Night.
