From the beginning in 1982, Au Bon Climat winery was totally devoted to making classic, Burgundian-styled Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara County. The convergence of cool, brisk Pacific air, marine-based soils, and east-west running valleys of the area provided an ideal place for growing exceptional grapes. Hence the name “Au Bon Climat,” the French idiom for “good place”. Forty years later, the wines have earned a world-class reputation internationally. Join us on the afternoon of the 26th for our monthly Open House event. Coast Open House's are casual events designed for guests to sample a variety of different wines ("try before you buy"). This event will feature a total of 10 wines made from the world’s “noble” grape varietals. It’s a fancy name to capture the grapes that have had the most influence on the world of wine. Depending on who you ask, there are anywhere from 10-18 varietals and they include most commonly grown grapes and the grapes known to be genetic “parents” to other popular varietals. Ok, we’re getting a little geeky now, but if you can you master these wines, you will intuitively understand the major flavor profiles of most red and white wine. This event is FREE for our "Club Coast" wine club members.

Arnot-Roberts is one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter. Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts have put together a compelling set of wines that highlight the personalities of some of the cooler-climate sites in Northern California. Most of the wines are made with a high percentage of whole clusters. Duncan and Nathan grew up around winemaking in the Napa Valley. Nathan is a second generation cooper and personally builds all of the French oak barrels that are utilized in the ageing of all Arnot-Roberts wines. Over the years Duncan has worked making wine in the Napa Valley in wineries like, Caymus, Groth, Acacia, Kongsgaard. We are thrilled to share with you the latest vintages of 3 of their exceptional wines.

There is no denying that Beaujolais is THE wine of the fall season. From easy drinking and fresh nouveau expressions arriving in late November to the more complex and elegant Cru styles, the region produces some of the best wine in the world made from the Gamay grape. The wine is known for its fruity flavors, often featuring notes of raspberry, cherry, and banana, with a characteristic freshness and low tannins, making it very approachable. Gamay grapes thrive in the granite soils of Beaujolais, where they benefit from a unique vinification technique called carbonic maceration. This process enhances the wine's fruity characteristics and results in a smooth, easy-drinking style. And perhaps it’s best characteristic, Beaujolais pairs exceptionally well with a VARIETY of foods, making it a versatile choice for meals. We’re thrilled to share some great new arrivals to the Coast bottle shop with you on the 10th.

In the spirit of celebrating balance and calm this summer, we’re teaming up with the folks at GoYoga to host a series of yoga classes on the lawn over the next few months. We invite you to join us every other Thursday starting in June for a 50 minute flow yoga class followed by a complimentary glass of wine on the lawn. These special events are open to all experience levels but will be limited to 30 guests each. Each class is $15/person.
